The Voice Season 21 stars Jim and Sasha Allen have just released their debut EP, titled 16 Borders. The father-son duo made it to the Semifinals on Ariana Grande’s team last year. This new project is sure to please their fans.

Jim and Sasha Allen Release New EP 16 Borders

Earlier this month, Sasha shared the news of the new EP on Instagram, writing that his dad “is one of the most gifted songwriters and musicians I know, and getting to record these songs with him was such a gift.”

The four-song project has an amazing folk sound, reminiscent of classic singer-songwriter acts such as Simon & Garfunkel. (Fans may remember the duo covering “Mrs. Robinson” on The Voice.) Jim and Sasha show off beautiful harmonies backed by simple acoustic guitar.

The EP’s cover features an old black and white photo depicting the father and son sleeping beside each other when Sasha was a baby. The title looks as if it’s been written on the image with black marker.

The EP’s Songs Were Written by Jim

“We hadn’t really set our minds on recording an album together ever before, but 16 Borders is an outgrowth from our experience on The Voice, and seemed like a great way to celebrate that journey we shared,” Jim told The Newtown Bee of the new project.

He added that Sasha chose the four songs on the EP. These songs were written by Jim and Sasha grew up hearing them. Jim said that was “very meaningful for me as both a writer and his father.” Sasha said he and his dad have “an incredible partnership.”

“I’d love for audiences to develop an appreciation for folk and Americana,” Sasha added. “There are so many powerful stories, and it was really fun to see these old songs given new life on this project.”
